Independent review of your explosion protection document

A second pair of eyes on an existing explosion protection document, DSEAR risk assessment or hazardous area classification. Every source of release is recalculated, differences in assumptions are separated from errors, and the findings are ranked by what matters most.

When a review helps

  • Before an inspection, an insurance survey or a group audit.
  • After an incident or a near miss, to see whether the zones and the measures were right.
  • When a document from a local consultant has to meet your group standard.
  • When the plant has changed and nobody is sure whether the document still applies.

What we review

  • Sources of release: completeness, grade of release and the data behind each one.
  • Calculations: release rates, degree and availability of ventilation, zone type and extent, recalculated to IEC 60079-10-1 and IEC 60079-10-2.
  • Zone drawings against the calculations and the actual layout.
  • Ignition sources and equipment: the EN 1127-1 assessment, and the category or EPL, group and temperature class of the Ex equipment against the zones.
  • Organisational measures: permits to work, training, marking, inspection and maintenance.
  • Required content: the items of Article 8 of Directive 1999/92/EC as implemented in your country, for example DSEAR in the UK or the Gefahrstoffverordnung and the TRGS 720 series in Germany.

What you receive

  • A findings list: what we found, why it matters, what to do, and a priority (urgent, important, minor).
  • Recalculation sheets wherever our result differs, showing the formulas, inputs and assumptions on both sides.
  • A one-page summary for management: is the document fit for purpose, and what has to change first.

Basis of our work. Our assessments are based on the documents, drawings and data you provide. On-site verification remains the client's responsibility unless the proposal says otherwise. Every report lists the documents it relies on and the assumptions made where information was missing.

Frequently asked questions

Will you rewrite our document?

No. A review tells you what is right, what is wrong and what to change. If you want a revised document, we can prepare it as a separate job.

What if our consultant disagrees with a finding?

Every finding shows the calculation and the reference behind it. Where a difference is a defensible choice of assumption rather than an error, the report says so.

Can you review documents in German?

Yes. Documents in German can be reviewed; the findings are written in English.

Is the review confidential?

Yes. Your documents are used only for the review, and a non-disclosure agreement can be signed before you send them.

Send us your documents

Within one working day of receiving them we send our first observations and a fixed-price offer. We work in writing, so every point and every figure is documented.
