Explosion protection engineering in Turkey
Local engineering for international companies with sites in Turkey. When a new line, tank, booth or warehouse is planned, we prepare and review the explosion protection document on site, to Turkish regulation and your group standards, and report to your team in English.
For headquarters, clients and insurers
Your engineer on site in Turkey
Group EHS teams, engineering contractors, insurers and auditors often need someone in Turkey who understands both ATEX and the Turkish regulation. Instead of sending an engineer from abroad, you can commission us.
- New installations and changes. Hazardous area classification and the explosion protection document before work starts, as Turkish regulation requires for every new line, tank, booth or warehouse.
- Independent review of a local consultant's document against Turkish regulation and your group standard, with every source of release recalculated.
- Site verification on behalf of your headquarters, client or insurer. We inspect to your checklist and send photos, measurements and findings in English.
- Ex equipment checks before purchase or commissioning: marking, certificates and specific conditions of use compared with the zone and the substance.
- Follow-up after an audit. We verify on site that the agreed measures are in place and report back.
Services
What we deliver
Every zone decision is based on a calculation and an explicit justification, so that the document stands up to an inspector's questions and can be applied on the shop floor.
Explosion protection document
The document required by Article 10 of the Turkish regulation (Patlamadan Korunma Dokümanı, PKD), with a calculation sheet for every source of release, zone drawings and an action plan.
Hazardous area classification
Gas, vapour and dust zones to IEC 60079-10-1 and IEC 60079-10-2, calculated rather than assumed, with the equipment requirements for each zone.
Independent review
An existing document recalculated source by source, separating defensible differences in assumptions from errors, with findings ranked by importance.
Ex equipment compliance
Category or EPL, gas or dust group and temperature class compared with the zone and the substance; missing documents and non-compliant items listed.
Site verification for teams abroad
An engineer on site in Turkey for your headquarters, client or insurer, working to your checklist and reporting in English.
Training and annual review
Site-specific training for operators and contractors, and revision of the document after changes.
Regulatory context
Turkish requirements in brief
For teams used to ATEX in the EU or DSEAR in the UK: the framework is familiar, the details and the inspection practice are Turkish.
- The Turkish regulation on the protection of workers from explosive atmospheres (Official Gazette 30.04.2013, No. 28633) transposes Directive 1999/92/EC.
- Its explosion protection document, the PKD (Patlamadan Korunma Dokümanı), is the counterpart of the explosion protection document under the directive: the Explosionsschutzdokument under GefStoffV § 6(9) in Germany, or the record of the DSEAR risk assessment in the UK.
- The employer must have it in place before work begins and revise it after significant changes, extensions or conversions (Article 10(3)). A new line or tank therefore needs an updated PKD before start-up.
- The ministry's application guide expects hazardous zones to be based on standards and calculations, not assumptions.
- Equipment in hazardous areas is subject to periodic inspection by authorised persons under the Turkish work equipment regulation (Article 7/A). Products placed on the market follow the Turkish transposition of Directive 2014/34/EU.
- Where several employers share a site, the employers must coordinate (Article 8); on industrial estates this duty lies with the estate management.

We see the site, then send a written proposal with scope, timeline and price.
Site work
Area-by-area survey, ventilation measurements, Ex labels and interviews with operators; photos shared with your team.
Calculation and report
A calculation sheet for every source, zone drawings and an action plan; the draft is reviewed with you.
Close-out
Final report and presentation; on-site verification of the actions if required.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is the PKD the same as an ATEX assessment?
In practice, yes. The PKD is the explosion protection document required by the Turkish regulation that transposes Directive 1999/92/EC. Its content follows Article 10(2) of the regulation.
Can you work to our group standard?
Yes. Where your standard goes beyond Turkish requirements, we apply it and show in the report which requirement comes from where.
Do you certify equipment?
No. Product certification is the work of notified bodies. We assess whether certified equipment is suitable for the zone and the substance where it is installed.
Does the PKD need approval by a Turkish authority?
The regulation places the duty to prepare the PKD on the employer and does not require a special licence for the person who prepares it. Inspectors review it during inspections. Our reports are signed and can be verified by QR code.
Which parts of Turkey do you cover?
All of Turkey. Calls can be online; the survey and site work are always done on site.
